View From 522: Preseason overreactions
Talking about the Steelers and Seahawks....
Oh yeah, it is football season again.
That reality punched me in the face on Saturday as I was walking across the bridge to the stadium and quietly muttering to myself, “I can’t believe it’s football season again.” It literally felt like I was just there. And now? Summer is over.
I am not going to try and overanalyze the result (a 32-25 Steelers win) or make bold declarations about the season based on this game (or any of the remaining two preseason games) but just share some random observations. Honestly, my thoughts on this team remain unchanged: I think they win 7-10 games with a strong defense, a shaky offense, and squeeze out some ugly wins to stay in the playoff hunt whether they actually make it or not.
Nothing about Saturday’s game changed that, especially in a game where nobody of major importance actually played (No T.J. Watt, no Cam Heyward, no Minkah Fitzpatrick, no Diontae Johnson, no Najee Harris, no Pat Friermuth, no Chase Claypool).
So what did stand out? Here we go….
