Happy Sunday. Here is what is ahead today.
The San Jose Sharks might be one of the worst NHL teams we have seen in the modern era.
NHL players are appealing their harsh suspensions, and what that means.
We haven’t seen a team like this Sharks team in a LONG time
On Thursday night the San Jose Sharks lost their 10th consecutive game to open the 2023-24 season by giving up 10 goals to the Vancouver Canucks.
It was a horrific showing, and the type of game that would normally be a rock-bottom level performance for most random teams.
No way they could lose that bad again. No way they could look that horrific again. Especially not in their very next game.
No chance.
No way.
Especially not against a Pittsburgh Penguins team on Saturday night that has looked completely ordinary and wildly flawed through its first nine games of the season. Hell, I half expected the Sharks to extend the Penguins’ brutal start and make them their first victory of the season.
Then the Penguins went out and beat the Sharks 10-2, giving the Sharks their 11th straight loss to open the season (0-10-1) and second consecutive game with 10 goals against. The latter feat is something that had not been done in the NHL since the 1965 season.
But let’s take a look at some more numbers on this start and how it stacks up to the other worst starts in NHL history.
