The Columbus Blue Jackets Really Stepped In It
This escalated quickly, and none of it makes the organization look good.
The Columbus Blue Jackets did not just simply step on a rake and smash themselves in the face with this whole Mike Babcock situation, they went full Sideshow Bob and just kept stepping on them. Rake, after rake, after rake, after rake.
Babcock resigned as the Blue Jackets head coach on Sunday — just a couple of months after he was hired, and before he was even able to run a single practice — all because it came out that he still has no idea how to be a normal person and treat his players with even an ounce of respect.
When word first surfaced that the Blue Jackets were interested in hiring Babcock they faced almost immediate criticism.
That criticism boiled over when they made it official, and now that it has reached its inevitable conclusion it has created even more questions about just what kind of organization that is and what other changes could — and perhaps should — come as a result of this mess.
