Steelers Week 1 Review: Well that was ugly
The good news is things should only get better! Right? RIGHT?!
Here is what I am not going to do: I am not going to overreact to one bad game and throw all of my preseason expectations and predictions out the window. That would be nonsensical and irrational. The first week of the NFL season is always a little weird, and it is not always a great indicator of what is ahead.
The Steelers opened the past two seasons by beating Super Bowl contenders on the road with extremely impressive wins. Those seasons ended up being completely mediocre.
Kansas City, Buffalo, and Cincinnati all lost this week to open their seasons, with the Bengals arguably looking worse than the Pittsburgh Steelers did. Buffalo lost to Zach Wilson. Sometimes weird shit happens in this league and especially in Week 1 of the season.
Having said that, it is really hard to imagine a worse and more humbling performance to start the season. They were outclassed, outplayed, outcoached, and bullied in all three phases of the game.
