Talking some football from Week 10 of the NFL season.

1. I already touched on most of my Pittsburgh Steelers thoughts for the week, but I will just repeat the most important point here again: The Steelers offense needs to run through the running game and the running backs. Not Aaron Rodgers. The more it runs through Rodgers and the passing game the more I feel like this offense — and team as a whole — is going to struggle. They are running the ball better every week and passing the ball worse every week. Despite that, they still keep trying to make the passing game a primary part of this. They just do not have the personnel for that style of offense. Just run the damn ball. Lean into it.

2. Just to give some additional perspective and context on this, in their past three losses the Steelers have averaged more yards per rush than they have yards per pass drop-back. Despite that, they have had nearly a 2:1 pass:run ratio in those games. It defies logic and goes against everything they are built to be and everything they try to convince people that they are.

I am not saying they win any of those games if they simply commit to the run more.

I am saying I think they would have given themselves a significantly better chance in all of them if they had simply committed to the run more.

3. I said on Sunday that Russell Wilson looked like he still had some juice left in his game for a few starts in 2024 before starting to show his age and slow down. I figured the same thing might be starting to happen with Rodgers.

Well, I looked at some numbers and compared Wilson’s first nine starts in 2024 to Rodgers’ first nine starts in 2025.

If you want to be concerned, just consider this: Wilson was more effective almost entirely across the board than Rodgers has been. At best they have been virtually the exact same quarterback.

Um.

Yikes

4. The Steelers next two opponents are the Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears. Those teams rank 29th and 26th in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game and 32nd and 28th in the NFL in points allowed per game.

If Rodgers and the offense do not have big games agains those two opponents then it is probably not going to happen this season and you should start looking ahead toward next season.

These next two games are significant for just that reason. Yeah, they need the wins for the AFC North and the AFC playoff race. They also need to show they can do something against two of the worst defenses in football.

Now, for a few more quick thoughts from around the NFL including Joe Burrow’s pending return to the Bengals lineup, Brian Daboll, roughing the passer penalties, the NFL MVP race and more!!
