New levels of weird for the Pirates on Tuesday
They were certainly dialed in to the weirdness in this game.
Sports are the best when things get weird, and things definitely got weird for the Pittsburgh Pirates in their latest loss (6-4) to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.
It all started in the fourth inning when second basemen Rodolfo Castro dove into third base and very clearly had his cell phone slide out of his pocket and land next to him on the infield dirt. Just look at this. Just watch it. Just try to comprehend that.
Staggering.
The Pirates broadcast seemed pretty dumbfounded at the time, and the timing of it could not have been more perfect. It came just after Greg Brown and Kevin Young were praising Castro for his improvement and maturity after being sent down to Triple-A after he failed to run out a pop-up that turned into a double play earlier this season. This is his first game back in the Majors after that mistake.
