Managing expectations for Kenny Pickett; Thoughts on the Pirates and where they go next
Checking in with some Pittsburgh sports....
The Pittsburgh Steelers are 1-3, have lost three games in a row, are entering the most brutal part of their schedule, are 14-point underdogs on Sunday, and are staring at the possibility of a 2-6 or maybe even 1-7 start unless something dramatically changes very quickly.
The one change that is providing at least a small amount of optimism: It is officially Kenny Pickett time.
After three-and-a-half weeks of brutal play from Mitch Trubisky, the Steelers are handing their offense over to their first-round pick and throwing him right into the lion’s den for his first career start. He is going on the road, against a Super Bowl contender, in one of the most hostile environments in the league, and against a defense that is one of the best in the league. All while being counted on to be the savior of a team whose season is teetering on the brink of oblivion.
