Hello and happy Wednesday. Here is what is ahead today.
The Boston Bruins keep winning. I did not expect this.
Nicklas Backstrom might be done in Washington.
Ottawa gets an incredibly harsh punishment
Looking at Boston’s incredible start
I have to admit, I did not expect this from the Boston Bruins this season. Not even a little bit.
I did not think they would necessarily be bad, but I had them pegged as a Wild Card team and maybe even a fringe playoff team. Maybe even miss the playoffs entirely if everything went south. They simply lost A LOT from last year’s team, and it was reasonable to conclude that their goaltending would not be quite as dominant as it was a year ago.
There was a lot of potential regression that could have happened there, especially with Charlie Coyle and Travis Zajac trying to replace Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci as their top two centers.
But holy crap, nine games into the season the Bruins are 8-0-1 and off to one of the best starts in the entire NHL.
How are they doing this? And how sustainable is it? What the hell is happening here?
