The first month of the NHL season is always wild in terms of what the standings look like, and it’s not always a great representation of how they will look at the end.
Just taking a quick look around the league on Tuesday and if the playoffs started today, the Devils, Islanders, Red Wings, Jets, and Kraken would all be in, while the Capitals, Rangers, Penguins, Wild, and Blues would all be out.
Some of those might hold, but the odds of all of them sticking are slim.
There are four teams out of that group that I want to focus on a little more: New Jersey, St. Louis, Detroit, and Pittsburgh.
So let’s get to it.
