Better luck next year: The New Jersey Devils look absolutely loaded
With just one major question....
Welcome back to Better Luck Next Season where we will take a look at what went wrong, what went right, and what sits ahead for all of the teams that missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs or were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Today we look at the New Jersey Devils who keep loading up offensively, but still have one major question mark.
The 2022-23 season was not only a massive success for the New Jersey Devils, it may have been the start of a dominant run in the Eastern Conference for one of the league’s best up-and-coming teams.
They had a 49-point improvement in the standings, saw their young talent take a massive leap toward stardom, added some impact players and won their first playoff series in more than a decade by knocking off their longtime rivals, the New York Rangers, in the opening round.
While their playoff run came to an abrupt end in the second round, the progress was, the foundation is in place, and they have spent the offseason adding to all of that.
On paper, this is one of the best teams in the league and one that is very capable of making a serious Stanley Cup run in 2023-24 if it can get some answers at one pretty significant position.
Goalie.
Everything else, however, looks to be championship quality.
While also getting better.
